This page aims to help people making comments on planning applications submitted to North Warwickshire Borough Council for decision. It explains:
Please be aware that if you decide to write submitting comments on an application proposal, your response becomes a public document which may be viewed by others and this will include the applicant.
Whilst the Council will endeavour to blank out personal data before publication or communication, it would prefer that you take extra steps to avoid accidental publication of your personal details. For example, you could exclude your telephone number or send it separately; print your name instead of using your signature; or to avoid inclusion of your email address, you can send your representation directly by email as a Word or PDF attachment to email@example.com.
The Government makes it very clear that there are some things that are not "planning considerations". These will have no weight in the Council's decision or the Board's discussions. The following matters are not relevant planning considerations:
The Council will however want to know your views about other matters such as loss of privacy, the results of the proposal on your residential amenity and your views on the design of the proposal. The most significant matters that will be taken into account are:
Please have regard to this advice if you choose to write to us about an application.
The Council decides on planning applications through its Planning and Development Board. However, in line with Government recommendations, and with all other Local Authorities in England and Wales, the Board will not deal with all applications. It delegates the decision of some cases to the Assistant Chief Executive and Solicitor to the Council. In general, all major applications will go to the Board. However, in most cases, if the representations received coincide with the recommendation of the Assistant Chief Executive and Solicitor to the Council, then the application will not be reported to the Board. However, if the nature of the representations differ from the recommendation of the Assistant Chief Executive and Solicitor to the Council, then the item may go to the Board, depending on the outcome of consultation with the local ward members and the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Board. The Board meets every month. The reports considered by the Board are available for you to read five working days before the date of the meeting by calling into the Council Offices or viewing them on the Councils web site. Please note that an application is not automatically refused if an objection is received. You can view and download a copy of the full Scheme of Delegation from the Development Control pages.
Please note that if you choose to write, receipt of your correspondence will not be acknowledged unless you request so in writing. Similarly, you will only be notified of the outcome of the application if you request so in writing.
